Step inside Gamma Ray Bar’s Groove-Lab for a Halloween-week night of mad musical science. Witness Mo’ Onions’ souled-out organ experiments (the world’s only vegetable-themed Booker T. & the MGs tribute), Maestranza’s funk-fusion concoctions, and The Broken Boards’ high-voltage surf rock formulas. Maestranza

Maestranza is a funky jazz fusion band with a variety of influences. Led by guitarist Nathan Relles and featuring some of the finest musicians in the city, the band plays a mix of covers and originals focusing on improvisation and collaboration.

Broken Boards

The Broken Boards is a Madison, WI based Surf/Instrumental group.  Taking inspiration from the 60’s surf bands and instrumental music of all kinds, we have played locally for approximately 6 years at many area venues and some local festivals too. Previous to this and ongoing, the 3 of us (Mark Shumway- Drums, Scott Olson- Bass, Vocals, Dan Bjerke-Guitar) have a band called The Cutouts which has played around town for many years now.  Previous to that Mark and Scott played in local faves Phil Gnarly and the Tough Guys.  Scott has also played in many local bands including The Willys, Social Crisis and Plaid Cats.  Mark moved to Minneapolis for a while where he played in The Vibro Champs and Salmon Bladder before moving back to Madison and playing in Nerve Jerk and Rumble.

We have released 2 cds of music that is available on all your favorite streaming platforms.
