Show Description:

Friend of a Friend formed in the summer of 2020 after a lifetime just missing each other. Since the 2022 release of their debut album “In Arms,” recorded on tape in Nashville, they’ve toured relentlessly throughout Europe and North America. Their sophomore album “FACILITIES” was recorded in-studio in Joshua Tree, California with Jordan Lawlor (M83, J. Laser) and released in 2024.

FOAF has been named an artist to watch by Rolling Stone, an “American Visionary Duo” by Mesmerized, an “indie rock band taking the scene by storm” by Wonderland Magazine, a “cultural phenomenon” by Extravafrench, “sonic visionaries” by Plastic Magazine,  “the next huge thing in indie rock” by Each Measure, “seamlessly intriguing” by Obscure Sound. They are working on their 3rd album.

Jane Hobson, a Chicago-based singer-songwriter from Madison, Wisconsin, blends post-punk, indie rock, and folk to create her unique sound. Jane grew up jamming with her father, Dan Hobson, drummer for the pioneering grunge rock band, Killdozer. Other musical influences include The Cranberries, Snail Mail, and Big Thief, all of which contribute to her indie “sad girl”—yet hard-rocking—style.

Jane honed her musical craft at Oberlin College, where she led the rock band, The Hobgoblins. Jane now performs live with some of Madison’s best musicians: Eddie Campbell on drums, Bronson Taalbi and James Strelow on guitar, and Ivan Skryagin on bass.

The band has played at many venues in the Midwest, including Lincoln Hall (Chicago), AtwoodFest (Madison), Orton Park Festival (Madison), Schubas (Chicago), Sh*tty Barn (Spring Green), the Hideout (Chicago), Cactus Club (Milwaukee), Cole’s Bar (Chicago), High Noon Saloon (Madison), The Bur Oak (Madison), and Gman Tavern (Chicago).
